How does the Ohio Board of Pharmacy differ from Ohio Pharmacist Association?
Board: works in the public interest, tries to protect public from pharmacists
Association: about progressing the profession

How often does the Ohio board of pharmacy meet?
Meet monthly for 3 days (usually 6-8 hours a day)
Term limit of Board of pharmacy members?
4 year terms with a max of 2 terms
Board president vs executive director
President: one of the board members that runs meetings, all board members are appointed
Director: a hired employee that runs operations for the board, NOT appointed
How is the board funded?
Through licensing/renewal fees
Board receives no money from Ohio’s general revenue fund
What can the board do to my license?
Can take Administrative disciplinary actions (after a hearing):

Place on probation
Refuse to grant/renew lisence

What is unprofessional conduct?
False advertising
Selling prescriptions without a script
Knowingly dispensing medications from false or forged prescriptions
Knowingly failing to maintain complete and accurate records of all dangerous drugs received or dispensed in compliance with federal laws and regulations and state laws and rules
Obtaining any payment by fraud
What is a Summary suspension?
The board can suspend a license using a telephone conference and take a vote if situation puts public at immediate risk.

What is considered a “Dangerous Drug”?
Any prescription medication (even non controls) or C5 that can be purchased OTC (like codeine)
Also any drug that has to be injected into the body
State Licenses Needed to Possess Dangerous Drug
Terminal Distributer of Dangerous Drugs (TDDD): Required to purchase and store dangerous drug for sale/use on a patient
Wholesale Distributer of Dangerous Drugs (WDDD): Required to purchase and store dangerous drug intended to be RE-Sold, i.e. not for direct consumer/patient use (i.e. wholesalers sell to pharmacies, not directly to patients)
All licenses need a RP/PIC
Responsible Person (RP or PIC)
Must be a pharmacist in a pharmacy
person on the TDDD/WDDD license that is in charge of the establishment
Must take controlled substance inventory yearly or when RP leaves (must notify within 10 days)

Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C (or 36°F to 46°F )
Frozen: -25°C to -10°C. (-13 °F to 14 °F)
