Angles
Angles are formed by two rays that share a common endpoint, called the vertex.
Adjacent Angles
Angles that share a common side and a vertex but do not overlap.
Complementary Angles
Two angles that add up to 90 degrees.
Supplementary Angles
Two angles that add up to 180 degrees.
Vertical Angles
Angles that are opposite each other when two lines intersect; they are always equal.
Polygon
A closed figure formed by a finite number of straight line segments.
Prism
A three-dimensional figure with two parallel and congruent faces called bases.
Volume
The amount of space a three-dimensional object occupies, measured in cubic units.
Surface Area
The total area of the surface of a three-dimensional object.
Probability
A measure of the likelihood that an event will occur, expressed as a number between 0 and 1.
Sample Space
The set of all possible outcomes of a probability experiment.
Random Sample
A subset of a population in which every member has an equal chance of being chosen.
Mean
The average of a set of numbers, calculated by dividing the sum of the numbers by the count of the numbers.
Median
The middle value in a list of numbers ordered from least to greatest.
Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD)
A measure of variability that shows the average distance between each data point and the mean.
Interquartile Range (IQR)
The difference between the first and third quartiles in a data set.
Proportional Relationship
A relationship between two quantities where the ratio of the quantities is constant.
Simulation
A method used to model a real-world situation to estimate probabilities or outcomes.
Fermi Problem
A problem designed to teach estimation and problem solving; it often requires making justified assumptions to arrive at an answer.
Measurement Error
The difference between the measured value and the actual value.
Data Set
A collection of related data points.
Representative Sample
A sample that accurately reflects the characteristics of the population as a whole.
