Transverse wave

A wave in which the wave moves perpendicular to the direction of the energy transfer

Longitudinal wave

A wave in which the wave moves parallel to the direction of energy transfer

Amplitude (A)

The maximum distance a wave moves from equilibrium (highest point reached on the y-axis)

Wavelength

The distance from crest to crest, or trough to trough

Critical angle

The angle of incidence at which light is refracted along the boundary between a medium with a greater refractive index and a medium with a smaller refractive index.

Total Internal Reflection

When the angle of incidence is greater than the critical angle at the boundary between a medium with a greater refractive index and a medium with a smaller refractive index.
