Atom
The smallest unit of matter that has the properties of a chemical element.

Protons
Subatomic particles that are positively charged and exist in the nucleus.
Electrons
Subatomic particles that are negatively charged and orbit around the nucleus.
Nucleus
A small dense area in the center of the atom containing neutrons and protons.
Atomic Number
A value representing the number of protons in an atom.
Mass Number
A value reflecting the sum of both neutrons and protons in an atom.
Ions
Charged atoms where the number of protons and electrons are different.
