Toxic Shock Syndrome
A condition caused by Staphylococcus aureus characterized by fever, hypotension, vomiting, and scalded skin syndrome.
Necrotizing Fasciitis
A severe bacterial infection caused by Streptococcus pyogenes leading to intense pain and rapid tissue destruction.
Bacterial Meningitis
An inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, caused by various bacteria including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria meningitidis, and Haemophilus influenzae.
Tuberculosis
A bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that primarily affects the lungs and is characterized by a chronic cough and weight loss.
Peptic Ulcers
Erosions of the lining of the gastrointestinal tract, commonly caused by Helicobacter pylori, resulting in abdominal pain and nausea.
Chlamydia
A sexually transmitted infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, often asymptomatic but can cause painful urination and discharge.
Candidiasis
A fungal infection caused by Candida species that leads to intense itching, irritation, and discharge, occurring when the normal vaginal balance is disrupted.
Histoplasmosis
A disease caused by the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum, presenting with fever and cough, often associated with exposure to bird or bat droppings.
Coccidioidomycosis
A respiratory infection caused by the fungus Coccidioides immitis, acquired by inhalation of spores disturbed from soil.
Malaria
A parasitic disease caused by Plasmodium species, transmitted by the bite of infected Anopheles mosquitoes, causing cyclical fevers and chills.
Enterobiasis
An infection caused by Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm) leading to anal itching, commonly seen in children.
