Why couldn’t the US bomb its way to victory in Vietnam?

The U.S. couldn’t bomb it’s way to victory because of many mistakes made by Johnson. Johnson was concerned that the Soviet Union and China might get involved in this war which made him make these bad decisions. Johnson didn’t want to bomb any thing near the USSR and China border, didn’t permit bombing targets that would cause high civilian casualties, and couldn’t bomb on airfields and missile sites.

What were the three parts of Vietnamization and why didn’t they work?

The three parts of reducing numbers of Vietnamization were Reducing numbers of American troops and in increasing roles of ARVN (South Vietnam army), Johnson unleashing an intense bombing campaign to target the supply lines and hideouts in Cambodia and Laos, and try to negotiate a peace agreement with the North Vietnamese government. These didn’t work because the south of Vietnamese army was weaker than the norths and when the U.S. pulled out troops, it gave north Vietnam a time to quickly attack.

Realpolitik was the thought of Foreign policy must focus more on practical goals rather than on moral or ideological preferences. His visits to China, Soviet Union, and Romania would connect to this idea to try and make peace through visits. His visits to Romania and China scared Soviets and pressured them into a deal.

The three charges brought against President Nixon were obstruction of justice, abusive power, and defying judiciary court subpoenas. For obstruction justice Nixon approved hush money/bribes to the Watergate burglars. For abuse of power, he authorized federal agencies to harass, political enemies. For defying judiciary court subpoenas he refused to handover the tapes.

Why was the camp David accord such a big deal? What role did President Carter play in the deal?

The Camp David accord was a big deal because It was a massive diplomatic breakthrough because they established the first peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. The agreement was a big deal because Egypt officially recognized Israel’s right to exist and Israel agreed to withdraw from the sinai peninsula. President Carter acted as a facilitator trying to connect the two countries.

How did the United States long-term support for the Shah lead to the Iran hostage crisis?

For a long time, the US was friends with Iran, and the US supported a very hated leader by the Iranians named the shah. Shah had no popularity and so he couldn’t make any restrictions. He eventually fled the country for his own safety because of the protest and hate towards him. Later, he went to the US for medical treatment of his cancer and made Iranians really mad which caused them to take over 50 U.S. protesters hostage.

Find three actions that Ronald Reagan took that prove he was a conservative

Ronald Reagan was a conservative because of how Reagan enforced massive tax cuts, spent lots of money on military supplies during the Cold War, and would appoint conservative judges. The tax cuts helped businesses have more money and made the rich get richer and poor get poorer. he had traditional views of the Cold War saying they were an evil empire. And for appointing conservative judges, he appointed two of them, including the first ever female judge.

Desert storm was offensive, regained the territory of Kuwait, air bombing, strikes, and ground invasion. President Bush declined the Soviet Union’s offer and had the US send in ground troops Desert shield was defensive, the UN made Iraq withdraw their invasion from Kuwait, and would protect Saudi Arabia with 230,000 U.S. soldiers.
