FPIES
Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome. This often manifests in infants as profuse, repetitive vomiting and lethargy, often with diarrhea, leading to acute dehydration or weight loss and failure to thrive. This is a most common reaction to cow’s milk, and rarely occurs in exclusively breastfed infants. Most cases resolve by 3-5 years.
FPIAS
Food protein induced allergic proctocolitis. This is a benign condition of bloody stools in well-appearing infants, usual onset between 1-4 weeks of age. This can appear in exclusively breastfed infants and can be resolved with the removal of Cow’s milk and soy from maternal diet. Most cases resolve by age 12 months.
