lots of holes. filled with softer tissue type which allows for shock absorption. (soft inside)

top/bottom ends of bone. contains hyaline cartilage and red bone marrow

Diaphysis

middle of the bone/ shaft. contains periosteum and yellow bone marrow

diploe

spongy bone filled with red bone marrow in skull
