Adolescence
The stage between childhood and adulthood when puberty happens.

To think carefully about something.
Gender concepts
Beliefs and expectations about males and females based on gender.
Hormones
Chemicals in the body that cause changes during puberty.
Democratic values
Values such as equality, fairness, respect, freedom, and responsibility.
Fair play
Playing honestly, following rules, and respecting others.
Puberty
The stage when a child's body changes into an adult body.
Negotiation
Discussing a problem to reach an agreement.
Peer pressure
Pressure from friends or people your age to do something.
Admiration
Respecting or looking up to someone.
Vulnerable
Easy to hurt emotionally or physically.
Freedom of religion, belief and opinion
The right to believe in whatever you want and follow the religion of your choice.
Human dignity
The principle that the government and citizens must respect the dignity of all people.
Healthcare, food, water and social security
The government must ensure access to healthcare, food, water, and financial help like pensions, social grants, and child support grants.
Environment
The right to a healthy and safe environment.
Language and culture
The right to use the language and follow the culture of your choice while respecting other people's human rights.
Common physical changes during puberty
In both boys and girls, growing taller, developing body hair, and potentially getting pimples.
Puberty changes in girls
Breasts develop, hips widen, pubic hair grows, ovaries start producing egg cells, and menstruation begins.
Puberty changes in boys
Voice becomes deeper, shoulders become broader, facial hair starts growing, pubic hair grows, and penis and testes increase in size.
Childline
An organization that can help children in danger or unsafe situations.
Positive actions to enhance self-image
Thinking positively, focusing on strengths, seeing mistakes as learning opportunities, setting goals, and exercising.
