Mechanical Comprehension
A test section or field of study focused on understanding physical principles and the mechanics of machines, such as gear trains.
Driver gear
The gear in a mechanical system that is connected to the power source and initiates the rotation of other gears.
Driven gear
The gear that receives motion and power from the driver gear and rotates as a result of the interlocking teeth.
Revolutions per minute (rpm)
A unit of measurement for rotational speed that indicates how many full turns a gear makes in sixty seconds, denoted as rpm.
Gear Train
A set or system of two or more gears that work together to transmit power, change speed, or alter the direction of rotation.
Teeth
The cogs or protrusions on the perimeter of a gear that interlock with another gear to prevent slipping and ensure the transmission of force.
