  • You check to see if the scene is safe

  • Check the person by tapping/shouting “ARe you Ok?”

  • If the person is unresponsive, call or send someone to call 911, and get the AED and first aid kit

  • Check for breathing for at least 5 seconds but no more than 10 seconds

  • If the person is breathing normally, check for obvious signs of injury and medical jewelry

It is a safe, stable side-laying pose for an unconscious person who is breathing normally.

Steps:

  • extend their arm out at a right angle to their body

  • cross the other arm

  • bend the knee

  • roll them over on their side

  • adjust their head

  • then check their breathing
