glans penis
the conical mass of erectile tissue that forms the head of the penis
OR in simple terms it’s literally the tip of the penis let’s be so fr.

Corpora spongiosum
lines the penile urethra, keeps urethra open during ejaculation

Corpora cavernosa
column of erectile tissue found on the dorsal shaft of the penis

spongy urethra
runs through penis; opens at external urethral orifice

membranous urethra
portion of the urethra between the prostate and the penis

external urethral sphincter
skeletal muscle, voluntary

prostatic urethra
Where the urethra passes through the prostate.

internal urethral sphincter
involuntary smooth muscle

bulbourethral glands (Cowper's glands)
located on either side of urethra in males; adds alkaline substance to semen

prostate gland
adds a chemical fluid to the semen

prostatitis
acute or chronic inflammation of the prostate

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
enlarged prostate

prostate cancer
cancer of the prostate gland, usually occurring in men middle-aged and older

ejaculatory duct
tube through which semen enters the male urethra

Seminal vesicle
small glands that make fluid mixed with sperm

Ductus (Vas) deferens
carries sperm from epididymis to urethra

spermatic cord contains
spermatic artery, spermatic vein, spermatic nerve, and ductus deferens

Epididymis
its where sperm matures outside the testes

rete testis
between the seminiferous tubules and the epididymis

seminiferous tubules
Narrow, coiled tubules that produce sperm in the testes.

testes (testicles)
male reproductive organ that produces sperm and hormones

cremaster muscle (It has something to do with the testes )
elevates or suspends testes to control temp

dartos muscle
pulls scrotum close to body found in the superficial fascia

Scrotum
External sac that contains the testes

vulva
external female genitalia; includes the labia, hymen, clitoris, and the vagina

labia majora
the larger outer folds of the vulva.

labia minora
Smaller pair of skin folds that protect the vaginal opening

Clitoris (female)
this is self-explanatory; lol, it’s a sensitive bundle of nerves and it’s tiny (fun fact some guys don’t even know where it IS! LMFAO)
vestibular bulbs
erectile tissue running deep to the labia majora which helps to tighten around the penis

Vagina
muscular, flexible tube inside the female body.

cervix of uterus
doorway between the uterus and the vagina.

cervical glands
secrete mucus that blocks sperm entry except during ovulation

Cervical Cancer
cell growth in the cervix; can be caused by Human Papilloma Virus and Herpes Simplex Virus

Uterus
Female organ of reproduction used to house the developing fetus

endometrium (inner body of uterus)
inner mucosa, site of attachment of the embryo

stratum basalis of endometrium
forms a new functionalis after menstruation ends

stratum functionalis of the endometrium
spiral arteries found in the layer of uterus that sheds during menstruation

Myometrium (Muscle of uterus)
middle muscular layer, that has mainly smooth muscle

perimetrium (Outer body of uterus)
external serosa layer

uterine artery
blood supply to uterus and supplies the ovary with blood through a connection with the ovarian artery.

uterine tubes (fallopian tubes)
tubes attached to the uterus that provide a passageway for the ovum to move from the ovary to the uterus

isthmus of fallopian tube
adjacent to uterine wall

ampulla of fallopian tube
the longest and most tortuous segment of the fallopian tube; area of the tube in which fertilization takes place and a common location for ectopic pregnancies to implant

infundibulum of fallopian tube
Funnel shaped lateral tube projects beyond broad ligament to overlie ovaries and captures the oocyte, a usual site of fertilization before it moves into the uterus for implantation

fimbriae of fallopian tube
small, fingerlike projections at the end of the fallopian tubes, through which eggs move from the ovaries to the uterus

Ovarian artery
supplies blood to the ovaries

Ovaries
Glands that produce the egg cells and hormones

ovarian cancer
malignant tumor of the ovary

Tail of Spence (axillary tail)
extension of breast tissue into the axilla

suspensory ligament
attached to the breast by fascia with the pectoralis major muscle

breast
contains adipose tissue, mammary glands and ducts, site of let down of milk

body of breast
conical to pendulous, with nipple at its apex

alveolar glands of breast
structure that produces milk

lactiferous ducts
milk ducts which carry milk from the mammary glands to the nipple

lactiferous sinus
site where milk enters from the alveolar gland

nipple
the small projection in which the mammary ducts of female mammals terminate and from which milk can be secreted

areola
a small circular area, in particular the ring of pigmented skin surrounding a nipple

gonads
