Striated muscle fibers that are involuntary, generate heat, and contract to circulate blood.
Endomysium
Areolar connective tissue that covers and wraps around each individual skeletal muscle fiber.
Sarcoplasm
Cytoplasm of skeletal muscle fiber; serves as the site of metabolic reactions.
Triad
Structure that conducts nerve impulses and facilitates simultaneous contraction of skeletal muscle fibers.
Neuromuscular junction
The connection between a motor neuron and a skeletal muscle fiber, consisting of sarcolemma, motor end plate, and other components.
