Micro-level interactions
Personal interactions that occur between individuals and their family, peers and individuals in the community.
Meso-level interactions
Interactions that occur between the micro and the macro levels of society, including groups such as schools and local organizations.
Macro-level interactions
Impersonal interactions that relate to large institutions, the media, law and government, evident at a national and international level.
Society
The patterns, organization, and relationships within and between people, groups, networks, institutions, systems, and organizations.
Change
The alteration or modification of cultural elements in a society, which can occur at micro, meso, and macro levels.
Modernisation
A process of dynamic social change resulting from the diffusion and adoption of characteristics from apparently more advanced societies.
Culture
The values, beliefs, language, and ideas shared across social groupings that give meaning to individual interactions in society.
Environment
The physical setting in which every society exists, significantly affecting interactions within and between various social concepts.
Time
The perspective of viewing the past, present, and future in relation to continuities and change, shaping our perception of both history and the future.
Continuity
The persistence or consistent existence of cultural elements in a society across time, maintaining traditions and social structures.
Distinguish Power and Authority
-Power; the ability to influence or control the behavior of people and the course of events
-Authority; the recognized right to exercise that power, often legitimized by laws or social norms
What is the difference between public knowledge and personal experience
-Public knowledge; information that is widely accessible and recognized within a society
-Personal experience; an individual's unique encounters and interpretations of events impacting their understanding and perspective

-Enhance understanding of cultural influences on perspectives and practices

What is a focus group
Research method to record responses in an in depth, planned discussion between a small group of people.
What is an interview
First hand research method that can be both structured and unstructured and is often one on one. Open ended questions are more qualitative
What is a content analysis
Research method to investigate and interpret the content of mass media and historical document to discover how issues were presented. Often used in quantitative research.
