What are three basic types of rectifiers?
half wave, Full wave, Full wave bridge rectifiers
Which type of rectifier requires a center-tapped transformer?
Full wave rectifier
Why can a full-wave bridge rectifier use lower voltage diodes than a full-wave rectifier?
Full wave bridge rectifier can use lower voltage diodes because the diode only has to block 1/2 as much reverse voltage as a center tap transfer diodes.
What would be the advantage of using an osciloscope to troubleshoot a rectifier circuit instead of a DMM.
Osciloscope shows the AC and DC waveform and voltage value
What component in a filter circuit is used to help limit a change in current?
Inductor
What component in a filter circuit is used to help limit a change in voltage?
capacitor
What is the positive electrode of a fuel cell called?
cathode
What is the negative electrode of a fuel cell called?
anode
How are fuel cells connected to increase current?
in parallel
How are fuel cells connected to increase voltage?
In series
How are photovoltaic cells connected to increase current?
in parallel
How are photovoltaic cells connected to increase voltage?
series
What are the two causes of a blown fuse in a half wave rectifier?
Shorted diode or load
What is the primary reason for low power supply voltage for a half-wave rectifier?
open input filter capacitor
What type of power supply is used when the output voltage must stay constant, even with a changing load?
regulated power supply is used with output voltage must stay constant
What is the function of the shunt resistor in a power supply?
Helps regulate output voltage
