Economic Anthropology
The study of the means of producing, distributing, and consuming goods within the context of cultural processes.
Cultural Rules of Governance
Patterns of labour, control of land, technology, and levelling mechanisms that are present in every society.
Gender Specialization
The division of labor based on gender, where certain tasks are predominantly assigned to men or women.
Flexible Configuration
A sexual division of labour where male and female tasks are equal with approximately 35% overlapping responsibilities without loss of self-esteem.
Dual Sex Configuration
A sexual division of labour where male and female tasks are equal, but there is never any overlap in responsibilities.
Rigid Segregation Configuration
A sexual division of labour where male and female tasks are separate and not equal, with male tasks occurring outside the home and female tasks inside the home.
