What was the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) ?

First sign of NA unity. Fought to end reservations+intergrate NAs into society. Resulted in establishment of the Indian Claims Commission, a gvmt body to aid in return of Indian lams

Established in 1961 with the initial aim of protecting NA fishing rights in the north west. Then took on lawsuits to protect treaty rights, voting rights and religious freedom
