Specialist Roles:

SENCO

Ensures best outcomes for children with SEND, collaborates with parents, staff, and agencies, holds QTS and national award for SEN Co-ordination.

DSL

Safeguarding responsibility in school, known by all staff for reporting concerns, typically a senior management member like SENDCO or HT.

Mental health lead

Manages mental health across the setting, may have teaching/management duties, trained existing staff member.

Mentor/ Pastoral support

Cares for student's emotional wellbeing, experienced staff with extra training in pastoral care.

PANCO

Promotes physical activity and nutrition, collaborates with staff and parents, requires specific training and lvl 4 certification.

Counsellor

Supports students with various issues, refers to specialist agencies, needs BACP training to work as a counsellor in a setting.

Careers advisor

Guides students on training, qualifications, and careers, often with diverse work experience in different settings or roles.
