Division Property of Inequalities
Multiplication Property of Inequalities
If each side of a true inequality is multiplied by a negative number, then the direction of the inequality symbol must be reversed to make the resulting inequality also true.
Compound Inequality
2 or more inequalities that are connected by the words “and” or “or”
Union
The graph of a compound inequality containing “or”.
Open Half-Plane
The solution of a linear inequality that does not include the boundary line. (Dashed line)
Boundary
The edge of the graph of a two-variable inequality that seperates the coordinate plane into regions.
Half-Plane
The region of the graph of an inequality on one side of a boundary.
Closed half-plane
The solution of a two-variable inequality on one side of a boundary. (Solid Line)
Intersection
The graph of a compound inequality containing “and”.
Inequality
A mathematical sentence that contains the symbols: <, >, ≤, ≥, or ≠.
