White/grey ooze with smell and under running of horn anywhere.
What is the recommended treatment for foot rot?
Oxytetracycline or amoxicillin; do not trim feet as it delays healing.

Treponemes spirochetes.
What are the initial clinical signs of contagious ovine digital dermatitis?
Initial lesion at the coronary band.
What is the treatment for contagious ovine digital dermatitis?
Long-term systemic amoxicillin or oxytetracycline.
What causes interdigital dermatitis/scald in sheep?
Dichelobacter nodosus.
What are the clinical signs of interdigital dermatitis/scald?
Inflammation of interdigital skin, reddening, and a white/grey paste between claws with a foul smell.
What is the treatment for interdigital dermatitis/scald?
Foot bath with 10% zinc sulphate solution for 2 minutes.
What can lead to toe granuloma in sheep?
Chronic unresolved footrot or being sensitive in the snip part of the toe.
What are the clinical signs of toe granuloma?
Inflamed granulomatous tissue coming out from under the horn.
How is toe granuloma treated?
Cut off with a tourniquet, cauterise with hot iron under local anesthesia, or cull.
What are the two types of white line disease in sheep?
Shelly hoof and toe abscess.
What are the characteristics of shelly hoof in white line disease?
Soil/debris in white line, not lame unless pus develops.
What are the signs of toe abscess in white line disease?
Sudden onset lameness without swelling, pus tracking up and out at the coronary band.
What is the treatment for toe abscess in white line disease?
Poultice until pus comes out, then oxytetracycline or amoxicillin.
What causes foot abscess in sheep?
Sepsis of DIP, secondary to trauma or infection.
What are the clinical signs of a foot abscess?
Severe lameness, hot and swollen foot, and discharging sinus at the coronary band or interdigital space.
What is the treatment for a foot abscess?
Surgical amputation of the toe.
