Utilitarianism
An ethical theory that suggests the best action is the one that maximizes utility, often defined as that which produces the greatest well-being of the greatest number.
Deontology
An ethical theory that emphasizes the importance of rules and duties in determining the morality of an action.
Quantitative Research
Research that focuses on quantifying relationships, behaviors, or phenomena and often involves statistical analysis.
Qualitative Research
Research that explores phenomena through detailed observations and interviews to understand social processes and context.
Systematic Review
A comprehensive summary of the research on a particular topic, often involving the analysis of multiple studies.
Malpractice
Failure by a health professional to meet the standard of care resulting in harm to a patient.
QSEN
Quality and Safety Education for Nurses initiative aimed at preparing nurses with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for quality and safety in healthcare.
LPN
Licensed Practical Nurse, a nurse who provides basic nursing care under the supervision of an RN.
Criminal Law
A system of law concerned with the punishment of individuals who commit crimes.
Civil Law
A system of law dealing with non-criminal matters such as contracts, property, and family law.
TURP Surgery
Transurethral Resection of the Prostate surgery, a procedure to remove part of the prostate for treating urinary problems.
Kidney Function
The kidneys filter waste from the blood, regulate electrolytes, and maintain fluid balance.
Urine Output
The volume of urine produced; a decrease could indicate renal dysfunction.
Anemia
A condition marked by a deficiency of red blood cells or hemoglobin in the blood, leading to fatigue and weakness.
Oxybutynin
A medication used to treat overactive bladder and incontinence by relaxing the bladder.
Serum BUN
Blood urea nitrogen; elevated levels may indicate kidney dysfunction or dehydration.

BPH
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, a condition in which the prostate gland is enlarged and affects urine flow.

Medications that may interact with the endocrine system and should be monitored in patients with urinary issues.
Medications for Urinary Incontinence
Drugs that help manage symptoms of urinary incontinence, such as anticholinergics.
