Albany Congress

1754 meeting created by British for colonies in Albany NY, hoping to unite colonies and Native Americans with them against the French

Franklin proposes Albany plan, which proposes a plan to create a colonial government based on home rule. Rejected by British gov (felt it gave the colonists too much power) and Colonists (felt it didn’t give them enough authority, didn’t want to unite under a central ruler)

Treaty of Paris 1763

the treaty ending the French and Indian war. Under its terms, French ceded its territories to both Spain in Britain, effectively ending their rule in North America, while Spain and Britain both gain much more power there.
