ANIMAL WELFARE
The state of well-being of an animal, including its physical and mental health.
ANIMAL TRADE/ TRAFFICKING
The illegal movement, sale, or exchange of animals and animal products.
OVERHUNTING
The hunting of a species at a rate faster than it can naturally replenish its population.
OVERFISHING
The act of catching fish in such quantities that it depletes the stock and prevents natural recovery.
POACHING
The illegal practice of hunting or capturing wild animals, often for profit.
FUR TRADE
The global industry involved in the acquisition and sale of animal pelts and fur.
ANIMAL TESTING
The use of non-human animals in scientific experimentation or product safety research.
SHRINKING HABITAT
The process where the natural environment of a species is destroyed or reduced in size.

A state where animals are kept in an enclosure or confined space rather than living in the wild.
CRUELTY-FREE
A label indicating that a product was developed without testing on animals.

An animal that is hunted and killed by another animal for food.
SCAVENGER
An animal that feeds on the remains of dead animals or decaying organic matter.
PEST
An animal or insect that is destructive, nuisance-causing, or harmful to crops and humans.
PREDATOR
An animal that naturally preys on other animals for sustenance.
ANIMAL SANCTUARY
A facility that provides a safe and permanent home for animals who have been rescued.
RODENT
A group of mammals, including rats and mice, characterized by having a pair of continuously growing incisors in each jaw.
BOGEY/BOGIE
An imaginary evil spirit or ghost.
BOGEYMAN
A mythical character often used by adults to frighten children into behaving.

COLD SWEAT
