What is Staggered From the Left/Right?
Every second element of the parade, starting with the left/right marker
What does "As You Were" mean?
Return to your previous position or disregard the incomplete command
What does FALL IN mean?
Move into an already existing formation on the parade deck
What does FALL OUT mean?
Step back onto the existing pad behind you and halt
What does STAND FAST mean?
Ignore all incoming orders until STAND EASY is issued
What does STAND EASY mean?
Resume following incoming orders
What does CENTER, FACE mean?
Face the general direction the Drill Commander correlates to the parade
What does CONTROL, FACE mean?
Follow the DC's movement by looking at them; broken only by CENTER, FACE
What does DRESS RIGHT, DRESS mean?
Fill gaps in ranks relative to the left marker, who does not move
What does COVER mean?
End elements fill gaps; all elements reposition and align properly
What is proper marching spacing?
One person's width (4 studs) apart; in trail arms, rifle sights should stick through ~halfway into the element in front
What does PREPARE, FORWARD, MARCH mean?
Go to slope arms on "PREPARE," then march forward at normal pace once person in front begins
What does FORWARD, MARCH mean?
March forward at normal pace in the arms previously ordered
What does DOUBLE TIME, MARCH mean?
Go to trail arms on "DOUBLE TIME," then sprint forward once person in front begins
What does PARADE, HALT mean?
Leading element halts; rest catch up, stop, cover and space at a slow pace
What does LEFT/RIGHT, TURN mean while marching?
Leading element takes sharp 90° turn; all following elements turn at the exact same point
What does FROM PROXIMITY, X, ARMS mean?
Closest element to DC performs the arm command first; others follow in ripple outward
What does FROM DISTANCE, X, ARMS mean?
Furthest element from DC performs the arm command first; others follow in ripple inward
What does READY ARMS mean from unequipped?
Draw your rifle
What does READY ARMS mean from equipped?
Return rifle to the drawn position
What does STOW ARMS mean?
Unequip your rifle
What does INSPECTION ARMS involve?
Port arms → DC approaches each element → element presents arms → unequips at apex → DC inspects → DC presents back → element re-equips in order arms
What does RIPPLE FIRE mean?
Each element fires one shot, one by one from the right/left marker
What does CYCLE FIRE mean?
Ripple fire from right/left, then right/left starts another ripple — continues until CEASE, FIRE
What does VOLLEY FIRE WITH X SHOTS mean?
All elements fire the stated number of shots simultaneously
What does FIRE AT-WILL mean?
All elements fire and continuously reload until CEASE, FIRE
What does CEASE, FIRE mean?
Stop discharging rifles
What is the formation required before an exercise?
Staggered formation, spaced one pace apart, facing the center of the parade
What happens during FIRING EXERCISE?
Fire your rifle as the DC passes you; continues until DC issues READY, ARMS
What happens during BAYONET EXERCISE?
Thrust bayonet just before and just after DC passes (two thrusts per pass); continues until DC issues READY, ARMS
What does DIS-MISSED mean?
From the right: right slope arms → sharp 90° right face → wait 1 second → march off; next element follows in sequence
What does WITH AN OFFICER ON PARADE, DIS-MISSED mean?
All elements salute for 3 seconds → unsalute → then standard dismissal from the right
