Bulimia Nervosa
A mental health disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of binge eating followed by inappropriate compensatory behaviors to prevent weight gain.
Binge Eating Disorder
An eating disorder characterized by eating large amounts of food without the use of inappropriate compensatory behaviors.
Compensatory Behaviors
Actions taken to prevent weight gain after binge eating, such as misuse of laxatives, diuretics, fasting, or excessive exercise.
Binge Eating Episodes
Episodes associated with eating much more rapidly than normal, often resulting in discomfort and feelings of guilt afterward.
Anorexia of Aging
A condition in older adults characterized by a decrease in appetite or food intake despite an adequate food supply.
Orexigenic Signals
Signals that stimulate appetite and food intake, which may be decreased in older adults.
Anorexigenic Signals
Signals that suppress appetite and food intake, which may increase in older adults due to various physiological changes.
