Non-psychoactive, acts like an adaptogen. Pain relief, anti-inflammatory, sleep, helps with homeostasis. Approved by FDA for seizures.
Adaptogens
natural plant-based substances, such as mushrooms and cannabis, that help the body manage stress, anxiety, and fatigue while restoring balance (homeostasis)
CBG/Mother Cannabinoid (cannabinoid)
First cannabinoid to form in the plant’s growth cycle. Similar effects to CBD, targets joint and muscle pain.
CBN (cannabinoid)
Similar to CBD, more sleep focused. Mildly psychoactive, targets REM sleep. Very sedating.
CBC (cannabinoid)
Similar to CBD, more mood focused. Acts as a nueroprotectant.
CBDa (cannabinoid)
Precursor to CBD, 100x greater bioavailability. Anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, and anti-cancer
Terpenes
Organic aromatic hydrocarbon molecules produced by plants that fall into a class of compounds made up of linked isoprene unit chains. Enhances the therapeutic benefits of cannabinoids like THC and CBD.

Caryophyllene (terpene)
Anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-anxiety effects. Often utilized in aromatherapy, topical treatments, and as a flavoring agent in food and beverages due to its spicy and woody aroma.

Myrcene (terpene)
Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and sedative agent. Additionally, it enhances the absorption of other terpenes and cannabinoids, boosting their therapeutic benefits.

Limonene (terpene)
Citrusy. Believed to alleviate stress and mood disorders. Significantly influences anxiety regulation across various regions of the brain.

Pinene (terpene)
Mental focus and energy. Bronchodilator, meaning it improves airflow to the lungs. It is also an anti-inflammatory. Pinene has also been used as an effective ingredient in topical antiseptics. Known for its refreshing scent.

Linalool (terpene)
Main compound making up lavender. Linalool in significant concentrations in cannabis can produce a restful, relaxing and stress reducing experience. Lavender scented.

Terpinolene (terpene)
Can have both sedative/euphoric and uplifting effects. Antioxidative, antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, and potential anticancer properties. Often found in Sativa strains, known for its herbal, pine, and citrus scent.

Ocimene (terpene)
Its therapeutic properties include anticonvulsant, antifungal, antitumoral, antidepressant, and decongestant effects. Sweet, herbal, citrusy, and woody aroma.

Humulene (terpene)
Potential benefits in helping combat cancer cells, and results have been promising, In research from 2018, Humulene was reported to show potential for anti-allergic and anti-asthmatic effects. Woody, earthy, and herbal aroma.

Psilocybin/ Psilocybe/ Psilocin (mushroom)
Psychedelic compound found in ‘magic mushrooms’. Causes intense euphoria, altered sensory perception, distorted time, ad spiritual experiences. Illegal in PA.

Amanita Muscaria (mushroom)
Generally non-psychoactive. In high doses and correctly processed, can mimic the effects of mild Psilocybin. CURRENTLY LEGAL

Cordyceps (mushroom)
Boosts energy/stamina, anti-inflammatory

Lions Mane (mushroom)
Functional mushroom known for improving cognitive function, enhancing memory, and supporting nervous system health

Reishi (mushroom)
Boosts the immune system, reduces stress, improves sleep, and fights fatigue

Turkey Tail (mushroom)
Highly regarded for boosting immune system function, promoting gut health, and fighting inflammation

Maitake (mushroom)
known for boosting immune function, regulating blood sugar, and reducing inflammation due to high levels of beta-glucans, antioxidants, and vitamin D.

Kratom
A tropical tree native to Southeast Asia whose leaves are utilized for opioid like stimulant effects. They effect the opioid receptors of the brain. Let customers know of this information before recommending Kratom.

Red Kratom
Psychoactive; very sedating/tranquil/sleepy; major pain relief

White Kratom
Psychoactive; mildly sedating; major pain relief

Green Kratom
Psychoactive; energy/focus/stimulation; major pain relief
7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH)
Extremely potent opioid compound found in Kratom in trace amounts. These days, it is isolated and processed into pressed tablets which can be up to 40 times more potent than morphine.

Egyptian Blue Lotus
Psychoactive plant historically revered for inducing relaxation, mild euphoria, and vivid dreams. Known for its historical use in ancient Egyptian spiritual ceremonies.

Entourage effect
A theory that suggesting that the various compounds in cannabis, specifically cannabinoids like THC and CBD, terpenes, and flavonoids, work together synergistically to produce a greater therapeutic effect than any single component alone.
Full Spectrum
Refers to extracts that contain the full profile of compounds from the cannabis plants (THC, CBD, CBN, terpenes, etc.). It is used to achieve the ‘entourage effect’. This includes live resin and live rosin.
Broad Spectrum
Refers to the extract containing a select variety of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, but with all detectable THC removed. It provides the ‘entourage effect’ without the psychoactive effects of THC.
Isolate
A select cannabinoid that has been separated completely from the rest of the plant’s compounds; often CBD
Tryptamine
Foundational structure for a large class of compounds, including neurotransmitters like serotonin and hallucinogens like psilocybin and DMT.
Live Rosin
Technically, ‘better for you’ due to the solventless process of using pressure and heat to turn bubble hash, or ice water hash, into a golden, gooey oil. Contains high terpene content and full-spectrum effects. Typically, more expensive.
Live Resin
Made using a solvent based process starting with butane hash oil. Producers washes cannabis plants with butane and then purges the butane to separate the terpenes and cannabinoids from the flower. Looks like a translucent-golden goop-like substance.
Different Methods of Delivery
There are four main methods of delivery: Inhalation (smoking/vaping), ingestion (edibles/capsules/seltzers), sublingual (tinctures/sprays), and topicals (creams/patches)
Onset Times
Inhalation, fast acting and a person can typically feels the effects within 1-5 minutes. Effects usually last only 1-3 hours. Ingestion, slow acting and a person can typically feel the effects within 60-90 minutes. Effects may last up to 8 hours. Sublingual, moderate/fast acting and a person can typically feel the effects within 15-30 minutes. Topical is used for localized relief usually taking 10-45 minutes for someone to feel the effects.
