Diverse people that had diverse societies based on the kinds of environments where they lived
Pueblo people
in now Utah, farmed maize how → irrigation system, clay houses
Great plains and Great basin people
nomadic (moved according to game), now colorado to canada, hunter gathers (buffalo)
Pacific coast people
developed ute (towns) because fish, game, lots of diverse plants, like in california Chmash had villages that could hold 1,000 people, trade up and down coast
Chinook People
in now oregon, build plank houses to hold families
Irquois
New York region, planted crops, lived in communal long houses, timber
mississippi river valley people
farmers, trade up and down rivers, like Cahokia - 10,000-30,000 people, led by a chief
