Anatomy
The study of the structure and organization of the body and the relationships of body parts to one another.
Physiology
The study of the function of the body and its parts.
Chemical Level
The simplest level of organization in the human body, composed of atoms and molecules.
Cellular Level
The level of organization where cells are formed from molecules.
Tissue Level
A group of similar cells that perform similar functions.
Organ Level
Consists of two or more tissues working together to perform specific functions.
Organ System Level
A group of organs that work together to perform specific system functions.
Homeostasis
The maintenance of a relatively stable internal environment by self-regulating physiological processes.
Negative-Feedback Mechanism
A regulatory mechanism that keeps physiological variables near their set point and stops automatically once set point is reached.
Positive-Feedback Mechanism
A regulatory mechanism that amplifies the original stimulus for a desired result and cannot stop on its own.
