Kinesiology
Study of Human Movement through a mainly qualitative lens
Biomechanics
Description of Human Movement by applying a quantitative lens to qualitative components
Anatomy
Science of the structure of the body
Functional anatomy
Study of the body components needed to perform a human movement or function
Linear Motion
Movement along a straight or curved pathway, all parts on body or object move same distance in same amount of time
Angular Motion
Motion around some point, so that the different regions on the same body segment do not move through the same distance over the same amount of time. The motion occurs about an axis of rotation
Kinematics
Characteristics of motion without reference to forces (position, velocity, acceleration)
Kinetics
Examines the forces acting on a system like human body or an object, examines the forces causing a movement
Statics
Branch of mechanics examining systems at rest or moving at constant speed
Dynamics
Branch of mechanics that examines systems that are being accelerated
