Regeneration (make sure to be able to spell this!), sanctification, empowerment, intercession, revelation/illumination/guidance, assurance, unification, spiritual gifts, baptism.
Regeneration
The Holy Spirit’s instantaneous work of giving a new birth to an intividual renewing human nature
What does regeneration involve
regeneration involves a change in a person’s indications and impulses
Sanctification of the Holy Spirit
Conviction of Sin, initial cleansing (initially living as born again), growth in holiness, overall lifetime transformation morally + spiritually.
Examples of the Holy Spirit’s empowerment (filling)
OT examples of the Spirit of God empowering people for service (judges, Saul, David),
examples of Jesus being filled with the Spirit,
Jesus said that His disciples will do greater works than He did
Spirit-empowered preaching (Peter, etc).

On the final exam, remember to say “union”!

The Spirit “created certainty, removing any doubt that we might have”
Spiritual Gifts
These are given to all believers to equip them for service to the body
Four observations on Spiritual gifts
1. They are for the edification of the whole body
2. No one has all the gifts and no gift is given to all belivers
3. All gifts are important
4. The Spirit gives the various gifts to whom He wills

At conversion - “Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit…” and “before many days you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit”
