What is Ryff's Six Factor Model of Wellbeing (1989)

•This research primarily focused on what would now be considered the related concepts of happiness, life satisfaction, and positive affect.

•Ryff identified the overlapping concepts across the theories (maturity, self-actualisation, lifespan development, positive mental health, individuation) and developed these into the six factors of wellbeing.

Seeking more than a theory or philosophical framework, developed the PWB based on her model

provided descriptions for high and low scorers for each factor, with higher scores indicating greater wellbeing

althoigh variation of the a scale differ in teh number of statments or items it is applicable across a wide range of ages and demographic groups
