Anterograde Amnesia
Inability to form new memories after the onset of amnesia.
Retrograde Amnesia
Loss of memory for events that occurred before the onset of amnesia.
Hippocampus
A brain structure crucial for the formation of new memories.
Amygdala
A brain structure adjacent to the hippocampus, possibly involved in memory.
Medial Temporal Lobe Resection
Surgical removal of portions of the medial temporal lobe, including the hippocampus and amygdala.
H.M.
A patient who underwent bilateral medial temporal lobe resection and developed severe anterograde amnesia.
Epileptogenic
Having the potential to cause seizures
Electroencephalographic Abnormality
Irregular electrical activity in the brain, often associated with neurological conditions such as epilepsy.
Incisural Herniation
The displacement of brain tissue through the tentorial incisure, often due to increased intracranial pressure.
Orbital Undercutting
