Positive Number
A number that is greater than 0.
Negative Number
A number that is less than 0.
Opposite
Two numbers that are the same distance from 0 and on different sides of the number line.
Rational Number
A number that can be written as a fraction or the opposite of a fraction.
Absolute Value
The distance a number is from 0 on the number line. It is always a positive number.
Inequality
A comparison of two numbers or variables using a less than or greater than sign.
Quadrant
The coordinate plane is divided into 4 regions called quadrants. The quadrants are numbered using Roman numerals, starting in the top right corner.
Common Factor
A number that divides evenly into two or more numbers.
Common Multiple
A product you can get by multiplying each of two or more numbers by some whole number.
Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
The largest common factor of two or more numbers.
Least Common Multiple (LCM)
The smallest multiple that two or more numbers have in common.
