  • Prisoners who are permitted to work outside of prison to prepare their work eventually release can be made to pay a proportion of earnings towards cost of victims support service to help repay

How does unduly lenient sentences fail to achieve reparation?

  • Not all prisoners serve their full sentence and therefore don’t repay their dept of society.

  • An example is Stuart Hall who was sentenced 5yrs after pleading guilty of assaulting two girls; only served half his sentence before his release.
