A device that makes work easier
Simple Machine
Work:
The amount of force needed to move an object a certain distance. |
Power:
The amount of work that can be done in a certain amount of time
How simple machines make work easier:
1.Change the amount of force needed
2.Change the direction or distance of force
Conditions for work to be done:
1.A force must move an object
2.Force and motion must be in the same direction
Work triangle:
Work = Force X distance (measured in J)
Force = Work / distance (measured in N)
distance = Work / Force (measured in m)
Power triangle:
Power = Work / time (measured in W)
Work = Power X time (measured in J)
time = Work / Power (measured in s)
