Axel Erlandson

Urea
A substance excreted by sweat glands and kidneys that is derived from the breakdown of amino acids in the liver to remove excess nitrogen from the body.
Crossing Over
The process during meiosis where non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes exchange genetic material.
Translation
The biological process where a tRNA binds an amino acid, transports it to a ribosome, and the ribosome joins it to adjacent amino acids to form a protein.
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)
A hormone that triggers the pituitary gland to release luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
Genotype
The specific set of alleles present in an organism's genetic makeup.
Phenotype
The observable physical traits or characteristics of an organism resulting from its genotype and environmental influence.
Microevolution
Changes in allele frequencies within a gene pool over a single generation.
Complex Sentence
A sentence structure that contains at least one independent clause and at least one dependent clause.
Definite Article
The word "the," used to refer to a specific noun.
Principal
A homophone referring to the head of a school or the most important element, distinct from "principle" (a fundamental truth or law).
