Subjective Examination
The process where the patient describes symptoms and experiences regarding their condition.
Objective Examination
The assessment by a clinician involving physical examination and tests to evaluate the patient's condition.
Talocrural Joint
The ankle joint, formed by the tibia, fibula, and talus, allowing for dorsiflexion and plantarflexion movements.
Active Range of Motion (ROM)
The range through which a joint can be moved voluntarily by the patient.
Passive Range of Motion (ROM)
The range through which a joint can be moved by an external force without the patient's voluntary efforts.
Oxford Muscle Strength Scale
A scale used to assess muscle strength with grades from 0 (no contraction) to 5 (normal strength).
Muscle Wasting
Reduction in muscle mass, often noticeable during physical examination.
Mobilisation Technique
A physical therapy technique used to restore normal movement to joints and soft tissues.
Electrophysical Modality
Therapeutic physical agents such as ultrasound or electrical stimulation used in rehabilitation.
Evertors
Muscles responsible for the eversion of the foot, important for balance and stability.
Home Exercise Prescription
A plan created for patients to follow at home to facilitate recovery and enhance treatment effects.
Pain-free Range
The range of motion in which the patient can move without experiencing pain.
Ankle Sprain
An injury to the ligaments around the ankle, typically caused by rolling or twisting the ankle.
