Incandescence
When an Object is healed to such a high temperature that it emits light
Phosphorescence
Light energy is absorbed by certain particles that can store that energy
Bioluminescence
Chemical reactions inside the body of animals that produce energy for light
Fluorescence
When a substance absorbs light and quickly gives off light, making it glow
Natural Light Sources
Light that comes from nature
Artificial Light Sources
Light that made by humans
Transparent
A material that lets light pass through so you can see clearly through it
Translucent
A material that allows some light to pass through, but objects cannot be seen clearly
Opaque
A material that does not allow light to pass through
Law of Reflection
Light bounces off a surface at the same angle it hits the surface
Angle of Incidence
The angle between the incoming light ray and the normal line
Angle of Reflection
The angle between the reflected ray and the normal line
Reflected Ray
The Light ray that bounces off a surface
Incident Ray
The ray of light that travels from an object towards a reflecting surface
Normal line
An Imaginary line drawn perpendicular (90∘) to a surface at the point where the light hits
Refraction
The bending of light as it travels from one medium to another
Light traveling into a less dense medium
Speeds up and travels away from the normal line
Light traveling into a more dense medium
Slows down and travels towards the normal line
