BMI (Body Mass Index)
A measure of body fat based on height and weight.
Energy Density
The number of calories in a given weight of food, calculated as calories per gram.
Waist Circumference
A measurement around the abdomen used to assess obesity and abdominal fat.
Limitations of BMI
Does not show location of fat; cannot tell if weight is muscle or fat.
Abdominal Obesity Cutoff for Males
A waist circumference of 40 inches or more is considered abdominal obesity.

Fast food or butter.
Low Energy Dense Food Example
Most vegetables and fruits.
