The Encomienda

This act allowed the Spanish government to give over natives to Spanish settlers in order for them to ‘christinize’ them, but under this system the natives were forced to work on the plantations they stayed on and it was realistically slavery of the natives.

Treaty of Paris

This treaty declared that Britain recognized America as an independent nation and that America acquired previously owned British territory. It also declared that America should return loyalist land and concessions back to Britain, but all in all this treaty formed a new, free country and made Britain lose its overseas colonies.

Currency Act:

 This Act was passed by the British Parliament in dealing with colonial money problems. It regulated the paper money colonists began to use and made sure American colonists didn't pay them with that paper money as it has no real value to British citizens.

Intolerable Act:

These acts were unjust as they denied colonists the right to assemblies and jury trials, if condemned to court the most likely thing to happen to that colonist was for them to be condemned guilty, this act violated their civil liberties.

Declaratory Act:

: This act gave Parliament the ability and authority to bind colonists and use the British power over them in situations (like political, economic and internal issues), this act fired up colonists to fight back.

Land Ordinance Act of 1785

 This law provided a way for the colonies to pay back war debt, sell the old new world land for money and put proceeds to pay off the national debt to foreign countries, this will also set aside land meant for public education.

Jay treaty

This treaty was an agreement between the United States and Britain to resolve any leftover issues from America breaking free from its mothercountry/ the war, and to loosen tensions as France entered their own revolution.

Alien and Sedition Acts:

 gave the president the power to deport foreigners, it was an arbitrary use of executive power and the following Sedition Act went against  constitutional rights of free use of press and speech, it said any criticism against the government policies was punishable (violated of freedom of speech).

Judiciary Act of 1801

This act reorganized the federal judiciary and while under federalist leadership reduced court justices and created new judgeships. This act led to the very controversial midnight judges case.

Non-Intercourse Act

This Act replaced the previous embargo act which forbade all exports from America, and the Non-intercourse act reopened trade with everyone (foreign countries) except France and Britain.
