Condescending vs. patronizing
Condescending is believing that you are superior to others intentionally, while patronizing is unintentionally speaking down towards others.
Condescending: “You are so bad at math!”
Patronizing: “Do you need help with the math?”
Difference between sarcastic and sardonic
Both Sardonicism and sarcasm can be used to mock something or someone. However, sardonicism tends to be more understated and subtle, often lacking the overt verbal irony that is characteristic of sarcasm. While sarcasm aims to communicate a certain disdain or irony through exaggerated expressions, sardonicism is typically aimed at delivering dry, bitter critiques without as much emphasis on humor or irony. Sardonic comments can seem subtly hostile yet are intended to be witty, whereas sarcasm often more explicitly seeks to insult or ridicule.
Short: Sardonic aims for humorous remarks, while sarcasm seeks to insult or ridicule through verbal irony.
