Structural/Substantival – When God created us, he gave us a soul
Functional - It is the authority God have given us
Relational – We are relational beings like the Triune of God

Trichotomy – human is made out of three substances (Body, soul, spirit)
Dichotomy – human is made out of two substances (Body and soul)
Monism – humans is made out of one substance (Body)
What are the 2 views of the origin of the soul?
Creationism - God creates each individual soul. God is always creating.
Traducianism - the soul is transmitted by parents to their children. Soul and body come from parents

Patriarchalism/Complementarianism – men are the head of the family

What is original righteousness?
The idea that we are morally upright, or innocent of sin. If people acted sinfully, then their original righteousness was forever damaged

God is so much higher and bigger than us. We wouldn’t know him or interact with him without revelation. God surpasses our finite human abilities to conceive and describe.

This is used to describe the constancy of God and God’s character. God’s will may change, but God himself does not change

What is the dictation/mechanical view on inspiration?
This view argues that God dictated the very words of Scripture recorded by human authors or copyists. The people writing were passive in their role
What is the verbal/plenary view on inspiration?
Hold that all parts of Scripture are inspired, but they place more emphasis on the human role of people in writing Scripture.
What is the concursive view on inspiration?
God simultaneously revealed truth while the human authors was moved to write. They worked together
What is the dynamic view?
They affirm that God inspired portions of Scripture or especially important ideas contained in it, but also that the human authors had freedom to write in accordance with the situatedness of their particular place and time.
What is the mystical illumination view?
human authors are thought to be intimately communing with God, where their normal powers of writing are heightened. No specific words of God are communicated to the authors. They must write on their own.
What is the ontological argument for God?
God is the most perfect being imaginable, the most perfect being must exist or it wouldn’t be perfect. So, God must exist.

Everything that’s dependent has a cause. The cause of the universe is God. God is the first cause.

God is the arranger/designer of the universe
