Experiment
An activity involving a chance of something happening
Event
A set of one or more outcomes
Impossible event
P(E) =0
Certain event
P(E) =1
Proabability
The chances or likelihood of something happening, often written as a fraction
Probability equation
P(E) =n(E)/n(s)
Sample Space
All the possible outcomes of an experiment
Experimental probability
The number of times the event has occurred over the total number of trials
Theroetical Probabilty
The number of ways the event can occur by the total number of likely outcomes
Independent Events
When the number of ways the event can occur by the total number of likely outcomes
Independent Events equation
P(A ∩ B) = P(A) * P(B)
Dependent Events
When one event does affect the second event
Mutually exclusive events
When the events have no outcomes in comment (one OR the other)
Mutually exclusive equation
P(A U B) = P(A) + P(B)
Probability of the Union of two events
A and B are in the same sample space
Probability of the Union of Events equation
P(A U B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A ∩ B)
