Activator Method
A system of analysis in chiropractic that relies on leg checks to assess pelvic alignment.
Possibility 1
Occurs when the pelvic deficient (PD) leg is short in position #1 and relatively lengthens in position #2, indicating the need to test the knees for subluxations.
Pelvic Deficient leg (PD leg)
A leg that appears short due to pelvic misalignment, differentiating from an anatomical short leg.
Initial leg check
The preliminary analysis to determine which of the three possible starting points a patient is at based on leg length.
Position #1 (P#1)
The initial positioning where the patient lies prone with legs extended for assessment.
Position #2 (P#2)
The second positioning where the patient's knees are bent to no more than 90 degrees for further assessment.
Pressure Test
A technique used to evaluate the presence of subluxations by applying pressure to specific points on the body.
Subluxation
A misalignment or dysfunction of a joint that can lead to pain and other health issues.
AS ilium
Anterior Superior ilium, a specific part of the pelvis that can be tested for subluxation.
PI ilium
Posterior Inferior ilium, another part of the pelvis that may require testing and adjustment.
Inversion
The rotation of the foot inward, leading to a potential misalignment of the legs.
Eversion
The rotation of the foot outward, which can also indicate potential misalignment.
Six-Point Landing
A method of hand placement on the patient during leg length assessment to stabilize and evaluate the legs.
Contact Points (CP)
Specific locations on the body where pressure is applied during the Activator Method to assess or adjust for subluxations.
Pubic bone
The bone that may be tested and adjusted if the legs are even in both Position #1 and Position #2.
