Organizational Conflict

Compromise
A conflict management strategy where each party engages in a give-and-take exchange.
Collaboration
A strategy that allows both parties to satisfy their goals without requiring concessions on key issues.
Accommodation
An ineffective approach where one party gives in to the demands of the more powerful party.
Competition
An ineffective approach where each party tries to maximize their own gain with little regard for the other party.
Avoidance
An ineffective strategy where parties ignore the conflict in the hope it resolves itself.

An impartial individual who helps parties in conflict come to an agreement.
