Stoichiometry
The study of the quantitative relationships between the amounts of reactants and products in a chemical reaction.
Limiting Reactant
A reactant that is completely consumed in a chemical reaction, limiting the amount of product that can be formed.
Balanced Chemical Equation
An equation that shows the relationship between reactants and products in terms of their quantities, with equal numbers of atoms for each element on both sides.
Molar Mass
The mass of one mole of a substance, typically expressed in grams per mole (g/mol).
Empirical Formula
The simplest whole-number ratio of the elements in a compound.
Molecular Formula
The actual number of atoms of each element in a molecule of the compound.
Percent Composition
The percentage by mass of each element in a compound.
Theoretical Yield
The maximum amount of product that could be formed from given amounts of reactants.
Actual Yield
The amount of product actually produced in a chemical reaction.
Percent Yield
The ratio of the actual yield to the theoretical yield, expressed as a percentage.
