Fine-Tooth Tail Comb
Also referred to as a drawing comb; used to distribute, mold, scale and part the hair.
Wide-Tooth Tail Comb
Also called a rake comb; used for finishing techniques, separating curls, and defining texture patterns.
7- or 9-Row Brush
A brush used to air form smoother textures and create volume and curved end texture.
Vent Brush
A brush that allows the greatest airflow to skip drying time while directing lengths into design lines.
Round Brushes
Tools used to create volume, curved end texture, or curls; available with metal, wood, or plastic cores.
Cushion Brushes
Brushes with a soft, padded base used to relax a set, backbrush, or smooth the hair surface.
Cylinder Rollers
Straight rollers used within rectangles and triangles to produce a uniform curl pattern.
Conical Rollers
Cone-shaped rollers used in curved shapes like circles and oblongs to produce a progression of curl diameters.
Soft Rods
Also referred to as flexi rods; cylinder-shaped flexible rods that can be bent to secure and produce uniform curls.
Concentrators
Blow dryer attachments that focus airflow to a small, specific area.
Diffusers
Blow dryer attachments that spread airflow gently over larger areas, often used for scrunched textures.
Curling Irons
Also known as Marcel irons; they use heat to create temporary curvilinear texture patterns.
Wands
Thermal tools used to create temporary texture patterns ranging from waves to tightly coiled curls.
Pressing Comb
A tool used to apply heat and tension to temporarily straighten tightly curled hair.
Flat Iron
An appliance consisting of two flat plates used to temporarily straighten and silk hair.
Crimping Iron
A tool with two angular or serrated plates used to create zigzag texture.
Undulating Iron
A tool with two curved irons used to create an "S" pattern or wave formation.
Hot Rollers
Heated tools applied to dry hair to quickly add volume and texture.
Self-Adhering Rollers
Rollers used on dry hair to reinforce a design already created or after an air forming service.
Viscosity
A characteristic of styling products describing the consistency, ranging from liquids to solids.
Level of Shine
A characteristic of styling products ranging from matte to high shine.
