Non - Specific Defence
A general response that targets any pathogen or foreign body (first line of defence)
Specific Defence
A targeted response to a particular pathogen
First - Line of Defence
Non - specific external barriers which restrict entry of the pathogens into the body
E.g.: skin and mucous membranes
Second - Line of Defence
Non - specific internal defences that respond to a pathogen after it has entered the body
E.g: phagocytes, inflammation, fever
Third - Line of Defence
Specific immune responses that target specific pathogens that have evaded the firt and second lines of defence
E.g antibodies
Skin
