Antipsychotic Drugs
Medicines that treat psychosis (Skitz, multiple personality). They stop delusions and hallucinations. They slow dopamine and reduce synaptic activity
Tardive dyskinesia
An incurable disorder of motor control. Result from long term use of antipsychotic drugs
Antidepressant drugs
Medicines used to treat depression. Usually affect serotonin and/or norepinephrine pathways. They increase brain activity and reuptake.
Mood Stabilizers
Used to trat Bi-Polar disorders and depressions
Anti-anxiety drugs
diminish feeling of anxiety. Relaxes people has slows them down
Stimulants
Increase activity level by encouraging communication among neurons in the brain. Used to treat epilepsy and ADHD. ex) adderall

Surgical interventions can be used to treat mental illnesses
Lobotomies
Cutting out an area of the frontal lobe in an attempt to eliminate negative behaviors/actions

Electricity is used to shock the brain and produce seizures. They have relaxing effects in behavior afterwards
