Sit in a chair, FACING the resident, while feeding.

Describe the food and fluid being offered to the resident.

Offer each fluid frequently.

Offer small amounts of food at a reasonable rate. Allow the resident time to chew and swallow.

Wipe the resident's mouth and provide sanitizer

Remove the clothing protector and place in designated laundry hamper. If a napkin, dispose of in trash.

Leave the resident sitting upright with the head of the bed at least 75–90 degrees. for 30 mins at least
